Pad Thai is a great dish to make at home because it is easy to customize and can be made with ingredients that you already have in your pantry.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to make the perfect pad thai:

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz. rice noodles
  • 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup chicken or shrimp, cooked
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup roasted peanuts, chopped
  • 2 tbsp. fish sauce
  • 2 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tbsp. tamarind paste
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 cup bean sprouts
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

Instructions:

  1. Soak the rice noodles in hot water for 10-15 minutes until they are soft. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a wok or large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the garlic and onion and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the chicken or shrimp and stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until cooked through.
  4. Push the chicken or shrimp to one side of the wok and add the beaten eggs to the other side. Scramble the eggs until they are cooked through.
