Instructions:

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or large frying pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the garlic, shallots, and chilies and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add the sweet soy sauce, fish sauce, and shrimp paste and stir-fry for another minute.

  5. Grill the chicken skewers for 2-3 minutes per side, or until cooked through.

3. Gado-Gado (Indonesian Salad)

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups mixed greens
  • 1/2 cup sliced cucumber
  • 1/2 cup sliced carrots
  • 1/2 cup sliced green beans
  • 1/2 cup sliced cabbage
  • 1/2 cup bean sprouts
  • 1/4 cup roasted peanuts
  • 1/4 cup sweet soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 red chili, sliced

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the mixed greens, cucumber, carrots, green beans, cabbage, and bean sprouts.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the sweet soy sauce, lime juice, vegetable oil, garlic, and chili.
  3. Pour the dressing over the salad and toss to coat.
  4. Top with roasted peanuts.
